Culture Diversity Course Reflection

Introduction:

This is my first year in college and the course begin in September 2013, The main purpose of this course was examine different cultures globally and within the UAE Also the challenges and the benefits of Diversity, I think I have achieve that and learned a lot of it. Culture diversity is different cultures communicate together.

Body:

Culture diversity course was an interesting course and one of the most interesting courses to me because it teach me he how to work in groups and teach me about other cultures in the world. In this course there is many classes I have enjoyed and my favorite three were doing the Emarati Culture Film because we talked about our culture and foreign culture also it was new experience for me and it`s amazing when u learn by doing , the second class was Presentation Test because I just love to do research and work for information and share it to the class mates and the teachers, and the third one is when we watched the Qatar video I like that because It was interesting and it was shock news to me because I did not know that slavery exist in Gulf.

In my opinion I think it's important to study this course because it helps the person to communicate with others that have different culture and how to work in groups. I think the most proper age to study Culture Diversity course is 18 because in this ages the person treats as big man by the law and the person life change significantly.

In the Culture diversity course everything was interesting to me but the most interesting thing I have learned in the past several months about racism and Slavery, it was important to understand the history of racism in the some countries and the Slavery, Also how the great figures like Jackie Robinson and Rose parks fight discrimination in the past.

Harmony day is the day where all cultures represent their cultural thing. And I Encourage UAE government to have a harmony day,  I prefer the event to be in winter break because the weather will be warm so everyone can participate and involved in the event, the way to celebrate  it is to show our Emarti culture and traditional  in stage.

Conclusion:

Culture diversity is an important course and it`s really fun course also its easy to understand and to learn it and it does teach us a lot of cultural things.

Portfolio - Exercise #10c

Exercise 10c :
The ways to fight discrimination:-

A. Jackie robinson

Jackie robinson he is african american an athlete. was been remembered as the man who broke the color barrier in major league baseball by being the first African american to play in major league baseball ( which was famous as the white people baseball league ).  Also he made it believable for all African-Americans to become better in their life be more successful for what they were doing . he had the courage to ignore the discrimination at the begging then challenged the traditional basis of segregation, which then marked many other aspects of american life, and contributed significantly to the civil rights

B. Rose Parks:

Rose park "the first lady of civil rights" one time she have used the transportation bus
and they were separated into  part the front were for the white people and the back for the black people but at that time the seats for the black were full she had to sit in one of the white people and she reafued to give up her seat when the driver said to her to move from the seat because it was white passengers seat. That was the begging of repeling the discrimination of rose parks

Portfolio - Exercise 10b

Blog Exercise 10B: Add 50-100 words (#10B) to your reflection about
What else has the UAE done to try to ensure human rights for its workers and to stop human trafficking  Why is this important for the (your) government to take this stand??

The government of united arab emirates secure human rights in the country for the workers by giving  freedom of speech ,freedom of religion and freedom of religion also they government helped them by keeping their own culture identity  and give them lots of respect another way it showed us their rights to the workers is by giving them protection of their salaries
like shaikh zayed bin sultan also give the woman her rights by let her to drive, and study , also giving them jobs in the country. human trafficking is selling and buying humans which similar to slavery .

. for the majority of trafficked persons it is like when they arrive to the specific country that they realise that the work they were promised does not exist and they force them to do jobs with lower salaries .and our government do their best effort to stop this kind of action and the government increased prosecutions , convictions and sentences for human trafficking also trained law enforcement officers on anti-trafficking methods.

this important for our government to take this kind of action because it does make our country in better picture and make the citizen and people who come to united arab emirates like tourist feel safer
away from affects of trafficking.

Portfolio Exercise #10a

Blog Exercise 10A: Write a reflection of 50-100 words (#10A) about modern slavery today. What do you think?? Figure out how many slaves work for you.. and post on your blog..

Unfortunately Slavery still exists in our time. It used to be old habit. When I saw two videos about the slavery it actually makes me feel bad for them because when they arrive to the work place they promise them with specific amount of money but when they started to work they give him less money and some of them did not get his salary. I think this kind of thing should be stopped because it may take people life away.
